Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
Part of our wellbeing program is the development and support of social skills. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is part of the school's wellbeing program. Supporting our PBL program we also have The Friendly Farm. The Friendly Farm process includes 9 statements to guide our learning and support.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new, requiring additional support or transitioning year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who build connections and have open communication with parents and carers
- developing health care plans for students

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
In 2015, Murray Farm Public School introduced the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. PBL is a framework for the whole school community to support the wellbeing of every student. Our students are taught the behaviour that is expected of them in all of our school settings.
Our three core behavioural expectations are taught to all students through interactive classroom lessons that have been collaboratively planned by all staff. These expectations are applied across all areas of the school. Our school's expectations are: Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best.
The philosophy is that students will gradually learn to regulate their own behaviour by understanding what the expectations are, by the application in different settings in the school and by having clear consequences for not meeting the school's expectations.
