Each year the Murray Farm Parents & Citizens Association requests payment of a voluntary contribution from all families at the school. This request for payment is included in the Semester Two Statement of Account.
Why does the P&C request payment of the voluntary contribution?
The Murray Farm P&C Association relies on the proceeds of fundraising through the Cracker Carnival and parent contributions to raise monies needed to assist the school in implementing and managing programmes, whilst providing new resources and maintaining the school environment.
What is the money used for?
Money raised here goes to directly supporting negotiated school initiatives. The budget that the P&C funds each year is agreed with the school based on educational priorities in the school's three year strategic plan. These priorities are set after taking into account feedback from the teaching staff and empirical evidence available such as school wide NAPLAN results, for example, paying for additional Student Learning Support Officers (SLSO) to support classroom programs. The P&C also supplements the schools funding to further increase the level of technology in each classroom, e.g. wireless access to all buildings, and access to 21st century technology, as the school will soon be providing 10 devices per classroom.
Why is the payment $100 per family?
In previous years, our voluntary contribution rates were considerably lower than other schools in the area and we relied more on fundraising to raise money, such as chocolate drives and other minor fundraising events. Over the years the P&C association found it increasingly difficult to find people to volunteer to help organise the different fundraising events. Therefore it was decided that the P&C association would focus on its major fundraising event – the Cracker Carnival – and ask families to make a small annual contribution to help negate the need for additional fundraisers throughout the year.
How can I pay the voluntary contribution?
The voluntary contribution payment is included in the Semester Two Statement of Account. Once collected by the school the funds will be transferred to the P&C.
Please not that the P&C voluntary contribution payment is not tax-deductable.
